Adopt Brandi, adorable 8 year old female beagle - Houston, TX

Meet Brandi! She is a happy, easy going beagle girl who is about 8 years old, 14” tall and 27 pounds. She came to Houston Beagle Rescue after her owner died and the family felt she needed more care than they were able to give. Her foster mom says someone is going to be very lucky when Brandi joins their family. Don’t let Brandi’s white face fool you; she still has lots of spunk! Naps are definitely her favorite pastime, but she also likes playing with toys, going for walks and car rides too! Every now and then you will even catch her playing with the young beagles in her foster home. When it is time to eat, Brandi will talk to you the whole time you are getting her bowl ready, asking you to please hurry! Brandi has absolutely perfect house manners. She is house trained and never needs to be crated. She really enjoys cuddling with you on the couch but will wait to hop up until you ask her to join you. At night, she is happy to sleep anywhere in the house as long as she has a nice comfy dog bed. Brandi would be a great addition to any home. She is very good with children and could be an only dog or live with others without any problems. She does seem a little too interested in cats, so a cat free house may be best! Brandi is a very healthy girl but she will need daily eye drops for the rest of her life. She is great about getting her drops, especially if it means getting a treat! Please consider making Brandi the newest member of your family, she can’t wait to meet you! If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, THE FIRST STEP is to complete our adoption questionnaire. Please visit our website here and follow the instructions on adoption: Houston Beagle Rescue Our regular adoption fee is $225; special needs, mixes and senior dogs are $175, and pups 8 months and younger are $275. The fee includes the spay/neuter, the vaccines, flea and heartworm preventative/treatment, a new leash/ collar/ rescue ID tag, microchip, and some training. Some dogs may have had additional vetcare such as orthopedic surgeries, heartworm treatment or other procedures, but these "extras" will not affect their adoption fee. Donations to help with vetcare are always welcomed!

Brutus needs a home or rescue Philadelphia PA

Please spread the word about Brutus the neutered beagle. He's a handsome and young boy in the Philadelphia, PA shelter known as ACCT Philly. They are very full and need to move dogs FAST! Thanks so much!
BRUTUS
Brutus (A17561769) is a shy 3-5 year old neutered beagle. This handsome boy wound up at ACCT after wondering into someone’s store. Brutus is pretty nervous here in the shelter and could really use some TLC and time to help him get over his funk. He has some reddening and slight hair loss on his paws. He is a little shy around people and took a while to actually seek interaction with anyone. He came over to give a couple sniffs and allowed some pets but didn’t seek more attention after that. The shelter is no place for Brutus. He needs you now more than ever. Please help him today!!

Adopt Clifford, great 7 year old beagle/basset hound! in PA

Meet Clifford!  He is NOT blind but he is with www.blinddogrescue.com
Clifford is a happy, sweet 7 year old beagle/basset mix. He gets along well with other dogs, and respects them when they tell him off. He met several kittens at the vet (including a VERY small 2 week old kitten), and was not interested in them at all, beyond a "what's THAT" sniff. He loves belly rubs, and attention of any kind. He is housebroken. He walks nicely on leash. He is very interested in food but does not guard food at all. Whenever he sees someone his tail wags and wags-he's always excited to meet new people. He likes to play, but also likes to nap on his dog bed. He does have some arthritis that seems to bother him a little, but nothing major. We will start him on a joint supplement and see if that helps. We are still learning about Clifford, so stay tuned!
Update: August 30, 2012:
Clifford is doing great here! We recently had 30 people over for a party, including several young kids, and he did great! He loved everyone, and had a good time getting treats. He is a counter surfer, and will peek to see what is on tables.  He has an ear infection and is good with our putting the drops in his ears (he didn't like it at first but is doing much better). He is getting eye drops to try to reduce the cherry eye, and doesn't mind them at all. He is a fun, sweet dog who loves to cuddle with his people.  Despite being on two different news channels in the Philadelphia area, no one has shown any interest in Clifford. We don't understand why! Please consider adding Clifford to your family.
If you are interested in adopting Clifford, visit www.blinddogrescue.com

51 beagles in PA rescued from terrible conditions - need rescues, adopters etc

Pennsylvania shelter in crisis mode after 51 beagles are found at murder scene

One of 51 beagles seized from Pennsylvania murder scene. (above)
Credits:
Dessin Animal Shelter
Pennsylvania state police were in for a shock Sunday when they discovered over 50 beagles in a Newfoundland home where a woman had been shot in the neck.
The victim was Donnalynn Schroeder, 52, who was transported by helicopter to a hospital where she later died during surgery. Her husband, Bertrand Schroeder, immediately confessed to the shooting. He maintained that the murder was accidental, telling police that he "did a stupid thing by getting drunk and then messing with a rifle."
Bertrand Schroeder was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, firearms violations and 50 counts of cruelty to animals. He remains in Wayne County Prison where he is being held without bail.
Troopers investigating the incident noted that the Schroeder's Wayne County home was packed with beagles, many of whom were puppies. According to the complaint, conditions at the filthy residence were "deplorable for both human and animal welfare."
A humane officer was dispatched to the scene and subsequently obtained a warrant for the dogs' seizure. On Sunday evening, volunteers and shelter staffers rounded up 51 beagles from the home and transported them to Dessin Animal Shelter in Honesdale.
The sudden influx of new arrivals has caused a crisis for Dessin Animal Shelter. The shelter, which only has room for 20 animals, was already housing 28 dogs at the time of the seizure. As Pennsylvania state law mandates that the shelter take in any animals brought to them by a dog warden, the facility had no choice but to make room for the beagles. The resulting overcrowding has caused the shelter to stop accepting relinquished dogs at this time.
The shelter is in dire need of adopters, donors and volunteers. Anyone able to help is asked to call 570-253-4037 or stop by the facility located at 138 Miller Drive in Honesdale. Anyone wishing to donate towards the beagles' care can do so via check or Paypal.

Adopt Piper and Joanie, two young senior adoptable beagle sisters - Houston TX

Joanie and Piper are two of the sweetest and cutest little beagles you will ever meet!  They are tightly bonded sisters that are looking for a home where they can stay together.  They were adopted from beagle rescue six years ago but unfortunately their owners passed away and the girls are now looking for another family to love them.
Joanie is the quiet one of the two.  She is very gentle and ladylike with absolutely perfect manners and never makes a sound! She loves to take naps on the couch with Piper and the other dogs in her foster home.  At almost 9 years old, she is pretty laid back but you will catch her wrestling with Piper and playing with toys.  She enjoys being loved on but is never demanding of attention. She is a small, classic tri-color- just a little over 13” and 20 pounds.
Piper is a spunky little girl!  She is a tiny little thing, 7-8 years old, barely 12” tall and a compact 18 pounds. She loves following her foster mom around and then cuddling in her lap and giving her kisses; she can never get too much attention. The one thing she loves more than anything is Joanie.  Piper is never far from Joanie, sleeps right next to her at night and cleans her ears and face for her.  Piper does seem to be mixed with another breed but acts just like a beagle!
The girls are very well behaved and get along with other dogs, children, and probably would be good with cats too.  They have a doggie door in their foster home but Piper really prefers it if you go outside with her when she needs to potty.
Joanie and Piper would love to find a family where someone is home to spend most of the day with them but they also do well at home when their foster mom is at work.
Joanie and Piper can’t wait to meet you and see if they are going to be the newest members of your family. Please don’t ask about adopting just one of the girls; they have been through a lot together and love each other so much that we wouldn’t even dream about separating them. Besides, the only thing better than one beagle is two beagles!

Adopt Sonny and Crockett, two 8 year old bonded beagles - Houston TX

Sonny and Crockett have been together all of their lives and are as much of a bonded pair as you will ever find! They are 8 years old and in need of a new home to spend their golden years. These good looking boys are a standard 15 inches and with a recent diet and exercise program, have their weight down to 30 and 33 pounds, respectively. You can tell them apart if you remember that Sonny has a wider white strip between his eyes!
Both boys have the energy of younger dogs and show joy in any attention they get. They have never had free run of the house. They have their space in the laundry room or are out in the yard. They will need someone who is committed to working with them. They could be such great dogs with a little time and love. They do enjoy walking on leash and will need to continue that exercise to keep the weight off. They know how to use a dog door and get along well with other canine buddies. They would do well with cats and kids. They still like to jump up, so small children might not be a good idea. Please give these guys a chance at the good life and apply today!  contact:
