OXFORD, NC BEAGLE was thrown from car!!!! THEN LEFT IN A DROP BOX!

This dog was left in the drop box at the shelter today. A note left with him said the owner of a local business witnessed him being THROWN FROM A MOVING CAR!!!!! Glad this boy will be spending the night in a warm shelter on his own cot with a full belly!! He will be on a mandatory stray hold. Due to the shelter being closed until Friday, the time will likely begin then.

Hi, my name is Daniel and I am a sweet 8 yr. old beagle boy that needs to find a new home. I was found as a stray, but really have no idea how I ended up on the street, especially at my age. I guess I was just following my beagle nose and before I knew it, I was lost! I was the receiving rescue to get these four breeder dogs and they are very social with tails wagging and happy to see me.  I got them at least a month ago from a breeder who was going out of the business.  They are five years old she told me but I received no paperwork.  They could be a little older I do not know.  All are active and to my knowledge they are healthy but very overweight.    There is one male and three females.  I separated the lighter color female from the others as they were picking on her and she stayed in her doghouse most of the time.   All of the others get along great.  If you need any more info send me an email and I will be happy to respond.  Thanks again and I sure hope that we can find a rescue soon for these babies—they have straw in their houses but it is still awful cold!!!

Maggie's approximately an eight-year-old beagle who's been in rescue for three years.  Isn't it time that she had a home of her own? She's no problem at all.  She's completely house-trained and doesn't need to be crated.  She's a very calm girl who just likes to sniff around the yard a bit.  She mainly just wants to sit on the couch with you and LOVES her belly rubs.  She's living with two other dogs and two cats in foster care and doesn't mind them at all.  She would be a great companion for someone who wants a low-key dog to cuddle with.  She's spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.  All she needs now is a couch that she can call her own.

This is Ringtail and he is a 20 year old blind beagle. He lived his entire life outside and his owners have dumped him in a shelter in Virginia. The shelter staff said he has lots of life left in him and he wags his tail constantly. They have moved him to a boarding facility to try and give him a few more days to find a rescue. Bowling Green OHIO - Owen a 1 year old beagle mix needs home or rescue now!!!

Owen is a 1-yr-old beagle mix boy who was left at the shelter.  He is a sweet boy, does well with the other dogs, loves people and loves to play!  He is currently the second-longest resident at the shelter and we are afraid his time is running out.  He has unique markings in that there are subtle almost cattle dog markings on his torso, but he looks otherwise all beagle! He is not yet neutered.

Mack is a beautiful four year old Beagle who lives on the end of a rope. He does not get walked and has not been trained. He can be a little aggressive upon meeting new people. He will require an experienced handler who can teach him how to be a proper pet. With attention and care, he should make a wonderful companion. Beagles are relatively high-energy dogs who require someone committed to getting them out for regular walks. I would not recommend placing him with children or other pets -- but it entirely possible that with the right training he could be great with both. Blue, a male Beagle, has lived the last 9 years chained outside without the comforts of a real home.  Today, 11/13/13, he had very little frozen water in the bottom of a bucket and no straw or bedding in his plastic dog house when animal control visited the home.  When the animal control officer confronted the owners they relinquished him and he is now at the county shelter.  He has missing teeth and others that are ground down to the roots so he needs dental work done.  We have vaccinated him and treated him for worms.  He weighs 23 lbs and is very friendly despite the life he has lead thus far.  At his age and with such bad teeth he will not get adopted here so we are begging a rescue to please save him.  We will assist with out of state transport.  Pictures are attached.  If you can help please contact the shelter's Rescue Coordinator at rescuebrigade@gmail.com

A family contacted us asking that we help them rehome their 2 sweet beagle sisters. The wife has been severely allergic to them since they got the dogs but it has become unbearable. One of the beagles jumped to greet her and accidentally scratched her and she spent a couple days in the hospital from the allergic reaction. They have been keeping the beagles outside lately and it is to cold for that so we need to find them fosters ASAP. Here is the description the family gave us:

 

Layla: gets along great with all ages of children including infants and toddlers, loves all ages of adults. She is sweet and gentle and loves to be close to people. She regularly spends time curled up in the lap of my 12yr old daughter sleeping and loving on her girl. Layla does not bark a lot but will bark when there are people or cars around she does not know. Layla has never bitten or snarled or even made an attempt to do so. She also loves to swing on the swing set with my daughter and lets my daughter carry her everywhere like a baby. Layla is up to date on her shots as far as I know and is tagged in Firfield county. 

 

Shiloh: (Shi) also gets along great with all ages of children including infants and toddlers, loves all ages of adults. She is sweet and gentle and loves to be close to people but unlike her sister Shiloh still enjoys playing ball, frisbee, etc and running around the yard chasing my 8 yr old son in games of "doggy tag" as he calls it. Shiloh has also never bitten or snarled at a person or made any attempt to do so to my knowledge. Shiloh is also up to date on her shots as far as I know and she is tagged in Fairfield county. She also only really barks at strangers.

Both dogs came from a litter of puppies that belonged to a family member of mine, not a breeder. The dogs mom was full blooded registered beagle and their dad was 1/2 registered beagle 1/2 lab. Our girls are small beagle size even though they have the mix in them.

When they lived in the house with us both dogs were house trained and crate trained. We have a cat that both dogs loved even though she clearly wanted no part of them most of the time. When we go on vacation each year the dogs are taken to stay with family members and I have always been told that our girls get along very well with our other family members dogs.
